Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is hiring a Senior Software Engineer on-site in Chicago, IL to lead AI-driven HR automation. You will own an HR technology tower within a small engineering team, delivering shipped agents and MCP integrations using JLL's AI platform and patterns.

You will collaborate with HR SMEs, translate workflows into agent capabilities, and ensure production readiness with robust testing and security.

Qualifications

• Shipped production agents using Claude Agent SDK, MCP, or equivalent stack.
• Proficient in production code in Python, Node, or .NET; comfortable moving across all three.
• Full stack engineering including frontend (React/Angular/TypeScript/JavaScript), backend REST APIs, authentication (OAuth, SSO, JWT), and automated testing.
• Cloud experience deploying on AWS, Azure, or GCP with serverless/containers, managed DBs, storage, secrets, networking, monitoring.
• CI/CD and DevOps: GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, Docker, and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/Bicep).
• Experience with diverse data stores: relational, NoSQL, object/blob, vector, and document.
• Ability to operate end-to-end as a one-person team: design, ship, support, hand off.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship HR agents in collaboration with HR SMEs and operators.
• Stand up MCP servers and connectors from pre-production to production.
• Bootstrap skills, integrations, and evals on JLL’s AI platform (LLM gateway, RAG services, MCP toolchain).

You will own a specific HR tower as a part of a 1-2 member engineering team. The Center of Excellence in our central AI team gives you the methodology, the platform, and the patterns; HR gives you the problems, the SMEs, and the appetite for change. Your job is to turn that into shipped agents and MCP integrations, then hand the mature apps off to other engineers as it stabilizes. We expect engineers at this level to operate with AI tools as a primary part of their workflow. Your leverage comes from the hooks, skills, workflows, and automations you install to ship safely to production. The leverage in this role is AI, not headcount. **What You’ll Do** • Build and ship agents for HR, in close partnership with HR SMEs and operators. • Stand up MCP servers and connectors: pre-production first, then through CDR (Critical Design Review) into production. • Bootstrap skills, integrations, and evals on top of JLL’s AI platform (LLM gateway, shared RAG services, MCP toolchain). • Run workshops with HR teams and translate their workflows into agent skills. • Feed patterns, anti-patterns, and platform gaps back into the Center of Excellence, so the next FDE moves faster. **Must Have Experience** •Shipped production agents using Claude Agent SDK, MCP, or equivalent stack. •Production code in at least one of Python, Node, or .NET, with comfort moving across the others. •Full stack engineering across the whole application: modern frontend (React, Angular, or equivalent with TypeScript/JavaScript), backend services and REST APIs, authentication and authorization (OAuth, SSO, JWT), and automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end). •Cloud experience deploying and operating production workloads on AWS, Azure, or GCP: compute (serverless or containers), managed databases, storage, secrets management, networking basics, and monitoring and logging. •CI/CD and DevOps: building and maintaining automated build, test, and deploy pipelines (for example GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent), containerization with Docker, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or equivalent). •Worked with diverse data stores: relational, NoSQL, object/blob, vector, and document. •Operated end-to-end as a one-person team: design, ship, support, hand off. **Nice to Have** • Knowledge of Workday or other HR systems is a plus. **Traits** • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable in the room with non-engineers. •Pragmatic judgment on when to ship, when to harden, and when to hand off. •Systems thinking with a focus on failure modes; AI writes most of the code, you own it. •Comfort with tasking and ability to run multiple agents in parallel as part of daily workflow.
