$189,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr

Software Engineer – ML Systems (Risk & Fraud Platform)

Akkodis is seeking a full-time consultant to work for our client.

Job Title: Software Engineer – ML Systems (Risk & Fraud Platform)

Location: Remote (must reside within 30 miles of Portland, ME; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; or the San Francisco Bay Area, CA)

Type: Full-Time (W2 Only – No contractors or sponsorship)

Compensation:

• Base: $189,000 – $200,000
• Bonus: 12% annual
• Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP): Up to $45,000 annually (performance-based)

About the Role:

We seek a Staff-Level Software Engineer with experience in ML systems and scalable data platforms to join our Risk Management and Engineering team. This team is at the forefront of building a predictive analytics platform that combats fraud and cyber threats using cutting-edge AI and real-time data.

You’ll work on designing and scaling our ML decision-making and risk engine, enabling our AI platform to make smarter, faster, and safer decisions.

What You'll Do:

• Build and optimize scalable, distributed ML systems for real-time fraud and risk decision-making
• Develop and maintain internal rule engines and data pipelines to support the AI platform
• Leverage Snowflake, Data Lakes, and data transformation pipelines to produce high-quality ML features
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and data science teams
• Drive architectural decisions and help define the future of our risk platform infrastructure
• Contribute to predictive analytics capabilities, with a focus on real-time data ingestion and analysis

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in computer science or Master's in Software Engineering
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering in tech, SaaS, or product-driven companies
• Previous Tech Lead or Staff Engineer experience in a production-grade ML system
• Hands-on experience with traditional ML systems, AI technologies, and cloud-based infrastructure
• Deep experience building and deploying scalable distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of data transformation, Snowflake, data lake architectures, and feature engineering
• Solid understanding of real-time systems, microservices, and modern DevOps practices

Nice to Have:

• Background in cybersecurity, information security, or fraud detection
• Familiarity with risk platforms, decision-making systems, or regulatory constraints
• Understanding of data theory, event-driven architectures, and stream processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Flink)
