About us
We are a cybersecurity network analytics company based in Atlanta, GA, providing security insights and automation at scale. Our cloud-native platform processes massive amounts of security and operational data in AWS, helping organizations stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.
About the role
Voreas Laboratories is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build, integrate, and deploy our cybersecurity and intelligence software.
This is a hands-on role spanning backend development, databases, messaging infrastructure, and CI/CD. You will take software from development through packaging, release, and deployment into customer environments, helping make delivery reliable and repeatable.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, solves problems across the stack, and becomes a trusted technical resource for our Product, Engineering, and Program teams.
What you will do
- Develop software: Build and maintain backend services, APIs, integrations, and supporting tools across VLI products.
- Own packaging and releases: Create versioned release artifacts, container images, configuration, and deployment documentation.
- Build CI/CD pipelines: Automate testing, builds, packaging, and deployments using GitHub, GitLab, and related tooling.
- Deploy and support software: Work with internal and customer teams to deploy, validate, troubleshoot, and upgrade applications across development, testing, and production environments.
- Develop databases and schemas: Design and maintain database structures, migrations, data contracts, and JSON schemas.
- Implement messaging infrastructure: Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot NATS servers and messaging workflows between services.
- Improve reliability: Implement logging, monitoring, health checks, and rollback procedures.
- Use AI-assisted development tools: Apply AI tools to support coding, testing, debugging, and documentation while reviewing output for correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Solve technical challenges: Evaluate options, explain tradeoffs, and help teams resolve application, integration, and deployment issues.
- Document and share knowledge: Create deployment guides, runbooks, and technical documentation that others can use.
What you bring
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of production services and software releases.
- Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages, such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, and containerized application deployments.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or comparable tools.
- Strong Git skills, including branching, code reviews, release tagging, and collaboration across repositories.
- Experience with relational databases, schema design, migrations, APIs, and structured data formats.
- Experience with messaging or event-driven systems, such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude, and practical experience incorporating them into engineering workflows.
- Ability to validate AI-generated code and use AI tools responsibly with proprietary code and sensitive data.
- Ability to troubleshoot across application code, configuration, databases, networking, and infrastructure.
- Sound technical judgment and the ability to work independently while collaborating with distributed teams.
- Clear communication skills and a practical approach to documentation.
- U.S. citizenship.
Preferred qualifications
- An active security clearance.
- Hands-on experience with NATS and JetStream.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, AWS, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience deploying software into restricted-network or disconnected environments.
- Familiarity with dependency management, vulnerability scanning, and software bills of materials.
- Experience with cybersecurity products, data pipelines, or intelligence platforms.
Why join us?
- Fully remote work with a modern, cloud-native environment.
- High-impact cybersecurity and network analytics projects.
- Competitive salary and a 401(k) with employer matching.
- 20 days of paid time off (PTO), plus holidays.
- A fast-growing team with opportunities for technical leadership and innovation.
What success looks like
You help VLI deliver working software consistently into customer environments. Releases are easy to package, trace, deploy, and support. Integration problems get resolved, documentation enables others to operate the software, and teams rely on you to move technical work from development through deployment.
