Job summary

Audible, Inc. in Newark, NJ is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to lead end-to-end software development across the full lifecycle from scoping to maintenance.

The role involves designing and implementing mobile or distributed software using Java or TypeScript, conducting design reviews, mentoring engineers, and ensuring performance and security while aligning with business goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in software development.
• Experience in designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered software using Java or Typescript with OO design.
• Mentoring or serving as Tech Lead to an engineering team.
• Building containerized cloud applications using AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, or OO design to optimize code performance.
• Building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Using testing techniques to ensure high-quality code.
• Performance monitoring and optimization; reducing latency and improving throughput.
• Integrating security best practices into the development lifecycle.
• Alternative: Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Design, develop, implement, test and document software applications and services.
• Provide design reviews and feedback on architecture, performance, and security.
• Manage resources across projects ensuring schedules align with goals.
• Translate requirements into robust, scalable solutions within the system architecture.
• Produce comprehensive software documentation.
• Mentor junior developers.
