Job Profile: Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - Quality Assurance

Position Overview

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at S&P Global, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. You will leverage your expertise in automation testing, particularly with Python and Playwright, to develop robust test frameworks and contribute to the overall improvement of our quality assurance processes. Your work will directly impact the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation Framework Development: Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Python and Playwright to ensure efficient testing of web applications.
  • Test Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define testing strategies, create test plans, and establish testing timelines that align with project goals.
  • Test Execution and Reporting: Execute automated tests, analyze results, and report on the quality of the software. Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Advocate for best practices in testing and quality assurance, continuously seeking ways to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship to junior QA engineers and SDETs, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of quality within the team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of quality requirements and to facilitate seamless integration of testing into the development process.
  • Performance Testing: Conduct performance and load testing to ensure that applications meet performance benchmarks and handle expected user load.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, test scripts, and testing processes to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on automation.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with Playwright for web automation testing.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of additional testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
  • Experience in performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
