Zillow scientists develop a variety of ML models (natural language understanding, computer vision, recommendation systems) that enable our customers to find and move to their next home. As a member of the AI Platform team, you will help define Zillow’s approach to AI research & products, powering products like home value estimation, economic research, personalized recommendations, and semantic search. You will work on building powerful ML infrastructure enabling containerized services, performing distributed computations at scale, and supporting continuous research, deployment, evaluation, and monitoring of ML models.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to help us build the next generation of AI infrastructure powering multiple Zillow products.

The position offers opportunities to:

1. Craft and build scalable infrastructure for orchestrating the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle from experimentation to production.
2. Work with technologies such as Kubernetes, KNative, Argo, Spark, Kafka, TensorFlow, etc.
3. Collaborate with Applied Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and cross-functional teams to implement your technical vision.
4. Work closely with our data infrastructure team to build data systems and stores that support ML models.
5. Coordinate with product and engineering teams to scope and deliver platform solutions.

This role is categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers work from a location of their choice, preferably in Mexico City, with occasional in-office attendance. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and potential equity awards based on experience, performance, and location.

Who you are

Basic Qualifications:

• BSc+ in Computer Science or related field; MSc preferred.
• 4+ years experience with Machine Learning, data, and backend web services & infrastructure.
• 1+ years experience with platform solutions.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset.

Nice to have:

• Vision and passion for simplifying ML development.
• Experience developing scalable, production-quality software systems.
• Experience with Databricks, low-latency web services, and frameworks like PyTorch, Keras, TensorFlow, XGBoost.
• Familiarity with modern data technologies such as Spark, Hive, Kafka, Beam, Airflow.
