At GDIT, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, improving agency operations through enterprise IT services for the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) biometric identity management system (IDENT) and the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM). We provide support to store, match, share, and analyze biometric and biographic data, supporting DHS’s strategic missions. GDIT seeks a highly motivated Senior Software Developer to join our team to develop, support, and modernize mission-critical applications for DHS. Your role will involve developing, deploying, and maintaining applications, working collaboratively with an entrepreneurial spirit to provide O&M support and help achieve critical missions.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Research, design, develop, and modify enterprise-wide systems and applications software.
• Use experience with C++ and Java, test-driven development, and Scrum/agile methodologies to develop, deploy, and maintain applications.
• Support and advise during all development phases to transform requirements into solutions.
• Engage with clients/users to define system scope and objectives.
• Contribute to system design decisions during new development and re-engineering efforts.
• Implement enhancements to existing systems and coordinate with parallel developers.
• Provide software development services across all tiers, including UI, Java, C++, and Oracle.
• Perform software QA/testing as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education: Technical training, certifications, or degree in related fields.
• Experience: At least 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Technical Skills: Experience with Java, C#, C++, or Golang; Agile, Scrum, and test-driven development.
• Security Clearance: Public Trust (DHS HQ EOD required to start; must obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability).
• Skills and Abilities: Problem-solving, troubleshooting, collaboration, time management, multi-tasking, task ownership, excellent communication.
• Preferred Skills: 8+ years of relevant experience; experience with DevOps, Gitlab, CI/CD pipelines, Bash/Shell scripting, XML/JSON, TIBCO, Web services, Oracle RDBMS, PL/SQL, UNIX/Linux scripting, SonarQube, Jira; certifications like SAFe, SCRUM, or Kanban.
• Location: Remote.
