Job summary

Amentum is seeking Software Engineers for an on-site role in Dahlgren, VA, to support naval programs and modernize critical weapon and sensor systems. You will work within our Software Center of Excellence on SQL/database development and in one or more of C, C++, Python, or Java, collaborating with senior engineers and customers.

Ideal candidates bring problem-solving skills, strong communication, and the ability to work both independently and in teams to deliver mission-critical software

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another applicable technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to drive on and off base.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement database solutions using SQL to support Naval projects.
• Demonstrate proficiency in one or more programming languages, specifically C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Support senior developers in the SDLC, including design, integration, implementation, and maintenance.
• Apply Agile development principles to ensure flexibility and adaptability in meeting project requirements.

This is anon-site positionin Dahlgren, VA, supporting cutting-edgeNaval programs, including the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.

We are seeking professionals with expertise inSQL database development, and additional experience with programming languages such asC, C++, Python, or Java. As a member of ourSoftware Center of Excellence, you will take part in solving complexDigital Engineering challengesand contribute to the Navy’s critical mission of modernizing systems to maintain technological superiority.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellentcommunication skills, an aptitude for problem solving, and the ability to effectively collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently when needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Develop and implementdatabase solutions using SQLto support Naval projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience:0-10 years of experience in software or database development.
• Education:Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Security Clearance:Ability to obtain and maintain aDepartment of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
• Other:Must possess avalid driver’s licenseand have the ability to drive on and off base.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency inSQL database developmentand familiarity with programming languages such asC, C++, Java, and Python.
• Knowledge ofAgile Developmentframeworks and methodologies.
• Experience with software development tools such asGitandJenkins.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support complex engineering tasks.
• Background in mathematics or computational modeling is a plus.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Compensation Details:

US: $110,000 to $190,000
