Job summary

Tempting Recruitment is supporting a California, Maryland-based client seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, develop and maintain mission-critical software for a military aviation enterprise.

The role requires 10–12 years of software engineering experience, a DoD/defence background, and an active Secret clearance. You will own key applications and collaborate with engineering teams, customers and end users to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• Approximately 10–12 years' professional software engineering experience, preferably within a DoD/defence environment.
• An active Secret security clearance.
• Experience designing and developing Microsoft Windows applications.
• Strong experience with C# and/or C++.

• Analyse software requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain software components and user interfaces.
• Perform system-level and unit-level testing to ensure software quality and performance.
• Take ownership of applications and become a recognised Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Contribute technical analysis, recommendations and solutions during project and customer meetings.
• Develop and present technical materials to internal and external stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with other development teams, customers and end users to deliver effective solutions.

JOB ROLE

We are currently supporting a leading organisation operating within the defence and military aviation sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Software Developer to join their specialist development team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development and support of software applications that form part of a military aviation mission-planning enterprise. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging, high-impact software where reliability, performance and quality are critical.

You will take ownership of key applications, working closely with engineering teams, customers and end users to understand requirements, develop effective solutions and continually improve the product.
