Job summary

indie Semiconductor seeks a Senior Software Camera Tools Engineer to join the Vision Business Unit and collaborate with imaging algorithms, firmware, and hardware teams. You will lead the host tools development for camera calibration, lab automation, and video processing features in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll design GUI tools, mentor peers, and contribute to training materials while accelerating camera bring-up and automation workflows across platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong experience developing desktop applications in C++ with design patterns.
• Experience with Qt or other GUI frameworks for desktop interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with software that communicates with hardware, embedded systems, or firmware.

Senior Software Camera Tools Engineer

The Senior Software Camera Tools Engineer will be a part of indie’s Vision Business Unit and assist the Image Signal Processing (ISP) team, Image Quality (IQ) team, and camera host tools and firmware projects as required. Close collaboration with the imaging algorithms, firmware, and image quality teams is a key part of this role.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a suite of software host tools with graphical user interfaces to support indie’s camera calibration, tuning, lab automation, simulators, on‑screen displays, demo systems, and other video processing chip features
• Drive new ideas and implement solutions for indie’s next‑generation host tools
• Support improvements in the current suite of camera host tools for indie’s family of camera video processor solutions
• Improve automation workflows to speed up the camera bring‑up process flow and migrate existing systems to new environments
• Develop new infrastructure for testing, validation, and troubleshooting ISP hardware and firmware subsystems
• Work closely with Image Processing, Image Quality, Firmware, and Hardware teams to enable them with new tool capabilities to aid camera systems development
• Gather requirements from cross‑platform teams or customers to better understand the use cases for the tool and efficiently scope the tool’s functionality
• Serve as a host tools lead and resident expert on tools and automation systems
• Mentor colleagues on designing GUI tools and software design patterns, and help them grow in their careers
• Write training materials and documentation for indie’s engineers and customers

• Minimum education + professional experience as follows: Bachelor’s + 6 years; or Master’s + 4 years or equivalent; in computer science, electrical and/or electronics engineering, or a related field
• Strong professional experience developing desktop applications in C++ and good design architecture knowledge using software design patterns
• Experience with Qt or other GUI frameworks to develop desktop graphical user interfaces
• Hands‑on experience developing software that communicates with hardware devices, embedded systems, or firmware

NICE TO HAVES

• Solid skills in writing C code to interface with camera hardware and control board‑level firmware operations
• Experience writing scripts in Python and MATLAB (good to have) to run automation tasks
• Experience with hardware‑host communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet/TCP/IP, or similar interfaces
• Solid prior experience mentoring fellow engineers and helping team members solve technical challenges
• Prior experience working with camera systems, boards, and related hardware is a plus
