Job summary

Parsons is seeking an Amazingly talented Software Architect to lead the architecture, technical evolution, and operational design of a globally distributed mission-critical platform. You will own end-to-end software architecture for a distributed microservices platform deployed across global environments and define architecture across service boundaries, data flows, and deployment topologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture leadership of distributed or mission-critical systems.
• 5+ years architecting microservices-based platforms in production.
• Hands-on Java (JDK 21+), Linux (RHEL/Rocky), and distributed systems experience.
• Strong experience with MongoDB, Elasticsearch/Logstash, RabbitMQ, and service discovery/orchestration tooling (Consul, Nomad, Vault, Kubernetes).
• Occasional travel up to ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end software architecture for a distributed microservices platform deployed across global environments.
• Define and govern architecture across service boundaries, data flows, event patterns, deployment topologies, observability, fault tolerance, and recovery.
• Lead evolution of a modern Linux-based Java microservices ecosystem and integration architecture for government, commercial, and customer-specific systems.
• Architect deployment patterns for multiple node types across edge, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Oversee architecture for peripheral and device services and ensure observability, maintainability, and supportability across deployments.
