Job Summary
Displays ability to apply the knowledge and skills of advanced social work practice, responding to suspected abuse, neglect or violence in accordance with the National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics policies and procedures alongside the appropriate state laws. Possesses an expert level of critical thinking and in-depth psychosocial assessments. Exhibits ability to apply complex concepts to situations. If carrying the correct licensure, may diagnose patients/clients/residents. May provide specialized counseling and support.
Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team in providing assistance with social, emotional and economic concerns of the patients/clients/residents and families/caregivers, thus enabling them to achieve or maintain an optimal level of functioning. Utilizes appropriate age-related patient/client/resident care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patient/client/resident. May work closely with the additional clinical staff to achieve fiscally sound and timely continued planning outcomes. Possesses advanced knowledge of the principles of teamwork. Understands the impact of illness on the patient/client/resident and families/caregivers. Demonstrates knowledge and clinical experience in the psychosocial and economic management of problems commonly occurring with an illness and may provide brief therapy as appropriate. Possesses ability to work with growth and development needs of patient/client/resident populations.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited curriculum required.
In Minnesota, must follow Minnesota State statute regarding social worker education.
Healthcare and/or mental health hospital experience preferred.
Must possess a license in good standing in state(s) of practice:
In Iowa, must have one of the following:
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
In Minnesota, must have one of the following:
Licensed Graduated Social Worker (LGSW)
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
OR other allowed credential based on Minnesota statute
In North Dakota, must have one of the following:
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
In South Dakota, must have one of the following:
Certified Social Worker (CSW)
