Job summary

County of Anoka is seeking a Senior Social Worker to serve in Community Corrections. The role includes crisis intervention, case consultation, and skill-building for at-risk juvenile clients, with on-site duties at the Non-Secure Program building in Lino Lakes, MN.

This full-time exempt position offers advancement opportunities and a competitive pay range. Interviews are scheduled the week of September 28th, 2026.

Job description

Job Posting End Date: September 20, 2026 at 11:59pm CST Hiring range: $85,363.20 to $119,496.00 annually ($41.04 to $57.45 per hour). Starting rate will depend on experience, education, and qualifications. Advancement opportunities exist for individuals motivated to move up within Anoka County. This includes 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 holidays your first year. Position Description

Working to build a safer community is the mission of Anoka County Community Corrections. The department has an immediate opening for a Senior Social Worker, who will perform various duties, such as crisis intervention and deescalation for at risk juvenile clients, skill building for juveniles with mental health needs and case consultation. This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. Interviews will take place the week of September 28th, 2026, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 36: $85,363.20 to $119,496.00 annually ($41.04 to $57.45 per hour).

Work Location

This position will work at the Anoka Non-Secure Program building, located at 7555 4th Avenue, Lino Lakes, MN 55427. Expected work hours are Tuesday through Friday, consisting of four 10-hour days. Two of those days will be evening shifts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals.
• Develop care plans for clients.
• Support clients with mental health needs in gaining skills and resources to build success.
• Coordinate with correctional staff to provide additional support services to clients.
• Collaboration with other contracted counseling and mental health services.
• Address client concerns and goals while building rapport.
• Provide crisis intervention.
• 14-day follow-up with clients having experienced sexual assault.
• Provide individual and group services.
• Review progress of clients on suicide risk status.
• Help clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives.
• Monitor clients' situations and follow up to ensure that they have improved.
• Advocate or raise awareness with and on behalf of their clients.
• Maintain case files and records.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training and/or mentoring to a multidisciplinary team.
• Coordinate/complete/lead special projects, trainings and events.
• Data collection to assess program efficacy.
• Provide case coverage responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Requires a bachelor’s degree in human services, nursing, social work or related field and at least 4 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience. Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Master’s degree in human services, nursing, social work or related field. Experience working in a correctional environment. Experience working with adolescents. Possess one or more of the following licenses: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with clients that are affected by issues including neglect, child abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and parental substance abuse. Experience with one or more of the following: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Anchored Relational Therapy (AIR).

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

Standard office environment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness. Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds. Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work. Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs. Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment. Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
