  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle available for business use.

The department has an immediate opening for a Senior Social Worker, who will perform various duties, such as crisis intervention and deescalation for at risk juvenile clients, skill building for juveniles with mental health needs and case consultation.This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. Two of those days will be evening shifts.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Senior Social Worker.Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals. Develop care plans for clients.Support clients with mental health needs in gaining skills and resources to build success.Coordinate with correctional staff to provide additional support services to clients.Collaboration with other contracted counseling and mental health services.Address client concerns and goals while building rapport.Provide crisis intervention.14-day follow-up with clients having experienced sexual assault.Provide individual and group services.Review progress of clients on suicide risk status.Help clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives.Monitor clients' situations and follow up to ensure that they have improved.Advocate or raise awareness with and on behalf of their clients.Maintain case files and records.Provide leadership, coaching, training and/or mentoring to a multidisciplinary team.Coordinate/complete/lead special projects, trainings and events.Data collection to assess program efficacy.Provide case coverage responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements:Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities NeededRequires a bachelor’s degree in human services, nursing, social work or related field and at least 4 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities NeededMaster’s degree in human services, nursing, social work or related field.Experience working in a correctional environment.Experience working with adolescents.Possess one or more of the following licenses: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).Strong verbal and written communication skills.Experience working with clients that are affected by issues including neglect, child abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and parental substance abuse.Experience with one or more of the following: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Anchored Relational Therapy (AIR).Physical Demands and Work ConditionsStandard office environment.Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.
