Job summary

Brunswick County DSS is hiring Social Worker III professionals across several child welfare program areas. This role offers an opportunity to protect children, strengthen families, and serve the community with meaningful growth.

The position requires a Master's degree in social work (or equivalent) and relevant experience, with duties including case planning, home visits, and court involvement. Excellent collaboration and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
• One year of directly related experience or equivalent combinations accepted.
• Knowledge of child welfare policies, procedures and legal mandates.

Responsibilities

• Create and monitor case plans for families and children.
• Conduct regular home visits with parents and children to assess risk.
• Perform private discussions to assess safety and risk on an ongoing basis.
• Supervise visits with parents/caregivers and transport children when needed.
• Connect families to community resources to address safety and risk factors.
• Assess child safety and risk on an ongoing basis and document findings.
• Prepare concise court reports and testify at hearings as required.
• File court paperwork and participate in custody-related proceedings.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Maintain up-to-date case documentation and records.
