State of Washington – DSHS HCLA is seeking a Social Service Specialist 3 for Region 2 to join Adult Protective Services. This role conducts investigations into reports of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, and self-neglect, interviewing victims and collaterals and coordinating services to ensure safety and dignity for vulnerable adults.

You will gather evidence, document findings, testify at hearings when required, and work with law enforcement, courts, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, accurate data entry and documentation.
• Familiarity with Medicaid terminology, regulations and policies.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing policies and priorities.
• Strong critical thinking with focus under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in urgent safety situations.
• Experience assessing risk and ensuring safety of vulnerable adults or children is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Conduct face-to-face interviews with alleged victims, perpetrators and collateral contacts.
• Collect and evaluate information to inform investigations, services and outcomes.
• Document all pertinent activity for each investigation and record electronically.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, judicial entities, families, facilities and community partners.
• Identify and refer at‑risk and vulnerable adults to appropriate service groups.
• Provide client advocacy, consultation, networking and crisis intervention.
• Prepare and provide testimony at administrative hearings, court proceedings and related actions.
