Job summary
L3Harris in San Diego is seeking a Senior SMT Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing engineering activities for high-reliability CCAs used in satellite telemetry, tracking, and command equipment.
You will perform hands-on tasks such as pick-and-place programming, reflow profile development, tooling creation, and process optimization, while collaborating with vendors and internal technicians to ensure maintenance and upgrades of SMT equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required; 6+ years SMT experience.
- 5+ years SMT process experience.
- In lieu of a degree, 10 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversee development and transfer of new products from Engineering to Production.
- Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) assessments for PCBs/CCAs.
- Establish manufacturing processes, validate equipment, develop tooling, and qualify materials for new product introduction (NPI).
- Create work instructions, assembly routings, and labor/cycle time standards; perform economic analyses.
- Attend daily shift huddles and weekly scheduling meetings to optimize SMT equipment utilization.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
