Job summary

Etched is seeking an SMT Line Lead to run its in-house SMT line, from incoming material to finished modules. You will build and lead the line's operations team and partner with process engineering, equipment, and procurement to deliver high-yield, on-spec assemblies for NPI and mass production.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electronics manufacturing with SMT and has led diverse teams across shifts. You will own scheduling, training, material flow, and quality inspections (SPI/AOI/X-ray),

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or comparable experience.
• 5+ years in electronics manufacturing (PCBA/SMT) with at least two years leading production teams.
• Hands-on SMT line experience: build scheduling, kitting, feeder setup, changeovers, and line-side inventory.
• Experience managing mixed teams of full-time and contractors across shifts.
• Working knowledge of SMT inspection and quality (SPI, AOI, X-ray) and IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001; MSD handling.
• Familiarity with SMT process validation and characterization; collaborate with process engineering on yield.
• Track record building processes, training programs, and metrics from scratch.
• Passionate about automating parts of the job with agentic AI.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operation of a US-based SMT line for NPI and mass production.
• Hire, lead, and develop the line's operations team including IQC, material handlers, techs, and rework.
• Schedule shifts and manage contractor headcount with staffing partners.
• Build training and certification programs (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ESD, MSD handling).
• Turn program priorities into daily/weekly build schedules; manage changeovers.
• Oversee material flow from receiving to finished goods including WIP and storage.
• Ensure inventory availability and quality in collaboration with supply chain.
• Run inspection flow (SPI, AOI, X-ray) and rework; partner to debug yield.
• Define line processes: work instructions, travelers, handoffs, nonconforming material handling, ESD, 5S, safety.
• Report line status, schedule attainment, yield, scrap, and inventory health daily; raise risks.
• Collaborate with engineering to scale lines and bring up future lines.
• Assist with agentic AI data extraction and auto-research for throughput/yield.
• Lead the way in integrating frontier AI into SMT operations.
