Job summary

Biogen in Cambridge seeks a Senior Engineer to join the Small Molecule Chemical Development team. You will help design and scale robust processes for diverse drug modalities, collaborating with chemists and engineers to deliver candidates for clinical trials.

Responsibilities include experimental design, data sharing, and technology transfer from lab to manufacturing partners, with opportunities for leadership and mentoring within a results-driven, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 5+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech settings.
• M.S. with 6+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech settings.
• B.S. with 7+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech settings.
• Strong background in pharmaceutical chemical engineering, crystallization, process safety, and tech transfer.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct lab experiments to optimize and characterize processes.
• Develop and execute experiments to advance the portfolio and analyze data for robust processes.
• Manage key laboratory instrumentation.
• Develop knowledge for transitioning lab-scale processes to manufacturing partners.
• Collaborate with Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Solid Form, and Separations teams to support clinical material supply and regulatory filings.
• Write research reports, present data in team meetings, and contribute to CMC activities including IND sections.
• Interact with Contract Research Organizations as needed.
• Initiate innovative research projects to improve process understanding and control.
• Mentor and guide earlier career team members.
