Job summary

Bitdeer in Austin, TX is seeking a Staff Slurm Cluster & HPC Scheduling Engineer to own Slurm as a first-class scheduling layer across our GPU fleet. You will be the technical owner of cluster architecture, multi-tenant policy, and reliability for bare-metal and VM-based nodes.

This hands-on role involves onboarding customers, guiding Kubernetes integration with Slurm, and setting engineering standards for the platform team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in HPC, systems, or cloud infrastructure engineering with 4+ years operating production Slurm clusters at 100+ GPU-node scale.
• Deep hands-on Slurm expertise: slurm.conf, gres.conf, topology.conf, MUNGE/SACK, JWT authentication and live upgrades.
• Strong GPU and fabric fundamentals: NVIDIA drivers, InfiniBand/RoCE, NCCL tuning and failure diagnosis.
• Production Kubernetes experience and hands-on exposure to Slurm-on-Kubernetes stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate production Slurm clusters on bare metal and VMs.
• Model topology for GPU fabrics and prove placement quality with NCCL and multi-node validation.
• Own multi-tenant scheduling policy and enforce fail-closed defaults.
• Lead Slinky on Kubernetes and evaluate slurm-bridge for co-scheduling Kubernetes Pods.
• Manage elastic capacity between Slurm and Kubernetes for demand shifts.
• Operate Pyxis/Enroot and container runtimes with CUDA visibility and MPI/PMIx support.
• Build health checks, observability, and billing integration; write runbooks and mentor engineers.
