Job summary

Glenwood in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Senior Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide clinical leadership and mentor therapists while maintaining a reduced caseload.

You will supervise and develop therapy staff, ensure high-quality evaluations, treatment planning, and documentation, and collaborate with families, schools, and physicians to support children and families in our Behavioral Therapy Center.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Occupational Therapy.
• License(s) required as applicable.
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience; supervisory/lead role preferred.
• Pediatric outpatient experience with developmental delays/ID preferred.
• Knowledge of Alabama Medicaid documentation and billing.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to SLPs and OTs.

• Ensure timely completion of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge documentation.

Senior Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Occupational Therapist (OT)

Glenwood is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide clinical leadership and support the continued growth of our therapy programs. This role combines direct client care with leadership responsibilities, offering an opportunity to mentor clinicians, drive quality outcomes, and help shape exceptional therapy services for children and families.

Reporting to the Director of the Behavioral Therapy Center, the Senior SLP/OT serves as a clinical leader supporting therapists, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting evidence-based practices while maintaining a reduced clinical caseload.

Clinical Leadership

• Provide clinical guidance and supervision to Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for evaluations, treatment planning, interventions, documentation, and best practices.
• Collaborate with therapists on complex cases and treatment recommendations.
• Promote consistency and evidence-based care across therapy disciplines.
• Maintain a reduced clinical caseload to support ongoing clinical expertise.

Staff Development & Mentorship

• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation of therapy staff.
• Mentor and coach team members to support professional growth and clinical excellence.
• Conduct competency assessments and skills validation for new clinicians.
• Support student interns and clinical placements, as applicable.
• Foster a collaborative, positive work environment. (Glenwood's Model of Care)
• Assist with conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives.

Clinical Operations & Quality Assurance

• Monitor productivity, scheduling efficiency, cancellations, and no-show trends.
• Ensure timely completion of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge documentation.
• Support compliance with physician orders, Medicaid requirements, payer standards, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
• Participate in internal clinical record reviews, internal audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with accreditation surveys and external audits.
• Monitor documentation quality and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Build positive relationships with families, caregivers, physicians, schools, and referral sources.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain professional licensure and continuing education requirements.
• Support departmental goals and perform additional duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

Licensure & Certifications

• For Speech-Language Pathologists:
• Current Alabama Speech-Language Pathology License
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
• For Occupational Therapists:
• Current Alabama Occupational Therapy License
• NBCOT preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
• Two years previous supervisory, lead therapist, or program leadership experience preferred
• Experience in a pediatric outpatient setting, particularly with developmental delays and/or intellectual disabilities
• Knowledge of Alabama Medicaid documentation and billing requirements
