Job summary

Vida seeks its first dedicated Site Reliability Engineer to own and evolve our production infrastructure. You’ll join the Enablement Team and partner with Engineering Management to set technical direction for scalable, secure platforms.

This fully remote role requires guiding Terraform and Kubernetes at scale, while collaborating across multiple teams to protect data and uptime. You will help Vida prepare for large enterprise deployments, modernize our stack, and implement robust monitoring and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering with production ownership.
• Hands-on Terraform experience including modules and state management.
• Deep knowledge of GCP (GKE, Cloud SQL, IAM, networking, load balancing, cost management).
• Production Kubernetes experience with autoscaling and resource management.
• Experience building monitoring and dashboards (Datadog or Cloud Monitoring).
• Proficiency in Python for tooling and automation.
• Ability to explain infrastructure decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate Terraform into a clean, documented structure with conventions for state, modules, code reviews, and CI checks.
• Normalize environments, improve build/deploy automation with GitHub Actions, and add drift detection and alerts.
• Apply overdue patches and upgrades to Cloud SQL and runtimes.
• Right-size compute and database workloads for growth with proper scaling.
• Evaluate Kubernetes architecture and multi-cluster considerations.
• Improve observability with Datadog and Cloud Monitoring to prevent incidents.
• Design observability access for contractors while protecting PHI.
• Retire legacy infra and tooling not decommissioned.
• Build repeatable runbooks, on-call rotation, and escalation docs.
• Support infra readiness for January enterprise launches.
• Additional responsibilities as needed.
