Job summary

Anduril Industries in Irvine, CA is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to maintain the reliability and uptime of our distributed defense tech stack. This role collaborates across compute, software, firmware, sensors, and connectivity to keep critical systems available in remote environments.

You will build monitoring dashboards and alerts, diagnose issues remotely, and drive automation through CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in SRE, DevOps, or similar production infra roles.
• Strong Linux skills (systemd, journald, SSH, shell).
• Solid networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/ARP, firewalls.
• Experience with incident response and postmortems.
• Eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build monitoring systems for Sentry tower fleet health including dashboards, alerts, and telemetry collection.
• Remotely diagnose issues across compute, software services, firmware, sensors, cameras, power controllers, and connectivity.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on incidents and develop automations to reduce manual toil.
• Plan and execute staged software, firmware, and configuration rollouts across the fleet.
• Review incident trends to identify recurring failure modes and gaps, writing and maintaining runbooks and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in on-call and escalation rotations for operational events.

This Senior Site Reliability Engineer role focuses on maintaining the reliability and uptime of the Counter Intrusion Sentry tower fleet deployed in remote, harsh environments, working across compute, software, firmware, sensors, and connectivity layers.

What You'll Do

• Build monitoring systems for Sentry tower fleet health including dashboards, alerts, and telemetry collection
• Remotely diagnose issues across compute, software services, firmware, sensors, cameras, power controllers, and connectivity
• Conduct root-cause analysis on incidents and develop automations to reduce manual toil
• Plan and execute staged software, firmware, and configuration rollouts across the fleet
• Review incident trends to identify recurring failure modes and gaps, writing and maintaining runbooks and troubleshooting guides

What You Need

• 4+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, systems engineering, or similar production infrastructure roles
• Strong Linux skills including systemd, journald/log analysis, SSH-based remote debugging, and shell scripting
• Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/ARP, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, or similar languages for automation and tooling
• Experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and writing postmortems and runbooks
• Eligible to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice to Have

• Experience managing fleets of embedded or edge devices (IoT, robotics, telecom, or defense systems)
• Experience with embedded compute platforms
• Familiarity with NixOS
• Knowledge of sensor systems (cameras, radar, GPS/GNSS) and power systems (solar, batteries, generators, power controllers)
• Experience with RF and mesh radios, Starlink, or LTE backhaul
• Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or border and critical infrastructure security
