Job summary

Tensor is seeking a talented engineer to advance the close-loop simulator architecture and raise realism for autonomous vehicle simulations. You will build fault-injection, hardware-in-loop realism, and measurement methods while collaborating with ML engineers to improve simulator realism and the Tensor autonomous vehicle driver evaluation.

Ideal candidates have a Master’s in CS/CE or equivalent, 3+ years in robotics or simulation, and strong C++ skills.

Qualifications

• Master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years experiences working on robotics or simulation.
• 3+ years experiences working on large scale software products and using advanced design patterns.
• Strong modern C++ coding skills and system design skills.
• Excellent communication, strong analytic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in mentoring/influencing junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Improve software architecture of close-loop simulator to eliminate known realism gaps.
• Develop fault injection framework to inject problematic sensor data and perception output, and inject failures of software modules.
• Improve hardware-in-loop simulation realism.
• Develop novel methods to measure sim realism in the context of several simulator tech and applications.
• Develop systems that can automatically discover useful realism metrics to guide simulator development.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers and data scientists to use ML models to improve simulator and sim agents realism to power the evaluation of Tensor autonomous vehicle driver.
