Job summary

Atomic Industries in Detroit is seeking a Simulation Engineer to develop high-fidelity models of manufacturing processes. You will model thermomechanical behavior, material flow, and force distribution to shorten tooling lead times from months to days.

You will collaborate with software, engineering, and manufacturing teams to deploy simulation pipelines used daily in production and optimize runtimes for accuracy and speed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of physics-based simulation experience (FEA/CFD)
• Strong understanding of mechanical behavior, heat transfer, or fluid flow
• Experience with commercial or in-house solvers (Ansys, Abaqus, COMSOL)
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++
• Familiarity with geometry formats such as B-rep, STL, and volumetric meshes
• Ability to reason from first principles and validate models against real-world data

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement simulations for thermal, structural, and material processes
• Validate models against physical test data and production outcomes
• Work with mesh and CAD data to define simulation-ready geometry representations
• Integrate solvers and workflows into cloud/on-prem hybrid infrastructure
• Collaborate with geometry and software teams to inform design and automation logic
• Optimize simulation runtimes for performance and fidelity
