Job summary

Mueller Water Products is seeking a Design Engineer III – Simulation in Decatur, IL, to independently perform FEA and CFD analyses that support the design and validation of mechanical components across product lines.

The role requires 7+ years of experience and expert-level skills in major simulation platforms, with a collaborative, team-oriented environment and a focus on continuous improvement in simulation practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Typically 7+ years of progressive experience performing FEA and/or CFD in industrial or mechanical design environments.
• Expert-level proficiency in one or more simulation platforms: ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, Abaqus, or COMSOL.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform FEA and CFD analyses including model setup, meshing, boundary condition definition, solving, and post-processing.
• Evaluate mechanical components and assemblies subjected to static and dynamic loading, thermal effects, pressure, and flow conditions.
• Apply established modeling practices and methodologies to standard and moderately complex simulation problems.
• Support design decisions by delivering clear, well-documented analysis results to design, manufacturing, and project teams.
• Produce formal engineering analysis reports for internal use, documenting assumptions, methods, limitations, and conclusions.
