Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Simulation Engineer in Irving, TX to build a scalable simulation engine for autonomous construction machines.

You will collaborate across autonomy, controls, and field engineering, and implement scenario-based workflows using Python/C++ and NVIDIA Omniverse. The role emphasizes developing scalable software, orchestration of simulation components, and integration of sensor data for validation against real-world data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of Python experience; C++ experience strongly preferred.
• 2+ years in software development in simulation, robotics, game engines, distributed systems, or autonomous systems.
• Experience building multi-threaded/multi-process networked systems with deterministic behavior and reliable messaging.
• Experience running containerized workloads in cloud environments (Docker, AWS Batch, S3), CI integration, and data I/O.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate cross-functional simulation workflows with autonomy, controls, and field engineering teams.
• Write maintainable, scalable, and well-documented Python/C++ code with clean interfaces.
• Create scenario-based simulation tooling, including authoring, test automation, and validation against real data.
• Develop NVIDIA Omniverse pipeline development (USD workflows, Kit/Code, PhysX) for immersive visualization.
