Job summary

Nokia in New York is seeking a Silicon Photonics Design Engineer to lead the full lifecycle of silicon photonics ICs—from design and fabrication to testing and analysis. You will collaborate with seasoned designers on high-performance optical engines for coherent DWDM systems and transceiver solutions.

The ideal candidate holds an MS or PhD in integrated optics or related field, with 5+ years in silicon photonics, strong device design and test experience, and proficiency in Python or C/C++.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD graduates in integrated optics, silicon photonics, EE, or applied physics.
• 5+ years of industry experience in silicon photonics or integrated optics.
• Strong device design and validation experience in photonics.
• Lab experience in optical testing and fiber-waveguide coupling.
• Programming skills in Python or C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Drive architecture and development of next-gen optical engines in Si photonics process tech.
• Own PIC architecture, specification of integrated photonic circuits for coherent Tx/Rx processing.
• Lead link budget development and optimization for coherent optical links.
• Champion design-for-test and design-for-manufacturing for high-yield production.
• Lead design reviews and set technical direction across photonics, RFIC/EIC, DSP, and packaging.
