A local government agency in Sanford, FL is seeking a Signal Technician to perform skilled work in the repair, maintenance, and installation of traffic signal systems. The role involves working with electronics, responding to public inquiries, and ensuring operational efficiency of traffic signals. Candidates should possess relevant experience and certifications, with a minimum starting hourly rate between $20 and $25, depending on qualifications.
Skilled work involving the repair, maintenance, programming, modifications, and construction of traffic signals, traffic signal systems, communications devices, and school flasher systems. Performs preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on traffic signals. Sets up and tests new equipment, and gathers data from traffic signal systems to assist in providing public record timing sheets.
Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description

Signal Technicians with demonstrated experience can expect a minimum rate of between $20.00 and $25.00, depending on years of experience and licensure.

Installs, modifies, updates, and tests traffic signal and communication equipment. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, modifies hardware, and inspects new installations. Responds to citizen concerns, maintains inventory, and documents work in MainStar. Schedules maintenance activities and assists with training.
Additional Duties: In emergencies, all employees are considered essential and may perform alternate duties.
Qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED with three (3) years of traffic signal experience preferred; a 2-year degree or certification in electronics/electrical discipline is a plus. Must obtain IMSA Work Zone Safety certification within three months and IMSA Level I Signalization Certificate within twelve months. Valid Florida Driver’s License required; Class B CDL preferred.
Must be able to work in a responsive environment, perform technical work involving heavy equipment, and have knowledge of electronics principles, safety precautions, traffic control standards, and ability to interpret plans and blueprints. Must operate electronic test equipment, communicate effectively, plan work, and operate small and medium equipment, including power tools, vehicles, and generators. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
