Senior Show Technical Production Manager

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney's Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its experienced teams of Imagineers are managing the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships, and new media technology projects.

About the Role & Team

The Show Technical Production Manager (STPM) is a key member of the overall Show Project Leadership team. They partner with the Show Manager and the Production Designer. Typically, they join a project during the early “Blue Sky” phase and stay through to project close-out.

What You Will Do
  1. Oversee and integrate the technical design of show elements, including mechanical, special effects, show control, lighting, AV, rigging, sets, interactives, programming, and safety.
  2. Coordinate systems and media integration, ensure compliance, and collaborate with facility and ride design teams.
  3. Manage schedules and budgets, conduct hazard analyses, ensure design compliance with codes and standards, and oversee installation, testing, and safety plans.
  4. Handle project turnover to operations and prepare final closeout documentation.
  5. Provide oversight and management of Disney employees, consultants, and vendors involved in the project.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledge of theme park attractions and their technical systems.
  • Ability to represent technical integration in meetings of various sizes.
  • Experience working with local authorities on code compliance.
  • Understanding of integrated show systems (AV, control, mechanical, lighting, effects, scenery).
  • Knowledge of theatrical rigging.
  • Ability to represent technical disciplines in design, fabrication, and integration.
  • Basic engineering principles (mechanical, electrical, structural).
  • Experience managing engineering and technical teams, vendors, and consultants.
  • Strong scheduling, sequencing, and time management skills.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in entertainment or related industries.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; relocation may be required.
Education
  • Preferred accreditation in arts or sciences disciplines.

The hiring range in California is $113,800 - $152,500 annually. Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other factors. Additional bonuses and incentives may be offered.
