Job summary

Golden Star (Wassa) Limited in Ghana seeks a Senior Short Term Planning Engineer to deliver the 12-weekly rolling and quarterly mine plans and to supervise weekly scheduling in line with the Business Plan and Life of Mine (LOM) pipeline.

The candidate should hold a Mining Engineering degree with at least five years in underground mining, knowledge of Ghana regulations, and a valid first aid certificate. Proficiency in Deswik, Surpac, GIS and other scheduling tools is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Mine Foreman Certificate of Competency is an added advantage.
• Minimum of five years in a similar underground mining role.
• Knowledge of Ghana Mining Regulations LI2182, LI2177 and related rules.
• Valid first aid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the 12-weekly rolling mine plan and quarterly plan.
• Supervise short-term weekly scheduling per the Business Plan and LOM.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.

The Senior Short Term Planning Engineer will be responsible for delivering the 12-weekly rolling and the quarterly mine plan, and supervise the short-term weekly scheduling in accordance with the Business Plan and Life of Mine (LOM) resource/ reserve pipeline.

Requirements

Qualification / Knowledge / Skill & Attitude

• Must have a minimum of a Degree in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Mine Foreman Certificate of Competency from the Minerals Commission is an added advantage;
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a similar position in an underground mining environment;
• Must have in-depth knowledge of the Ghana Mining Regulation LI2182, LI2177 and other related regulations
• Must have a valid first aid certificate.

Skill

• Proficient in Deswik, Surpac, GIS, GEOVIA, AutoCAD, Deswik scheduling and other scheduling software;
• Computer literacy skills; Microsoft Office suite (word, excel and power point) and other related applications.
• In-depth understanding and competency in Mine planning;
• Must have experience in ventilation and drill and blast engineering;
• Ability to understand underground plan and design;
• Proficient in report writing and data analysis;
• Strong data management and presentation skills;
• Adept at working safely and efficiently under pressure;
• Project management skills.
