What we're looking for
A fast-growing US-based e-commerce company is looking for a Senior Shopify Developer to take full technical ownership of its Shopify environment. This is a senior, high-ownership role where you won't just work through a ticket queue; you'll define how the company's stores are built, scaled, and maintained. You'll start as a developer, with real potential to grow into an engineering lead as the team expands.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the company's main US Shopify store, the top priority and primary revenue driver, and support edits across roughly five additional stores.
- Clean up and simplify the existing codebase and CMS setup for long-term maintainability.
- Set up, run, and analyze A/B and split tests across key pages and templates.
- Improve page speed, mobile responsiveness, and technical SEO across the store.
- Build custom sections, templates, and dynamic components using Shopify's Online Store 2.0 framework.
- Lead a longer-term project to consolidate stores into a Shopify Markets model.
Requirements
- 6+ years of front-end development experience, with several years specifically in Shopify at a senior or lead level.
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of the Shopify CMS, native tools, and Online Store 2.0 architecture (JSON templates, sections, blocks, metafields, metaobjects).
- Proven experience building custom Shopify apps using Shopify's APIs (Admin, Storefront, App Bridge).
- Experience setting up and analyzing A/B and split tests on Shopify.
- Comfort being the sole development resource, with strong project management instincts and the ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with using AI tools for optimization work.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Shopify Markets or similar multi-region, multi-currency, or multi-language setups.
- Shopify Plus and Shopify Functions.
- Headless or composable Shopify setups (Hydrogen, Storefront API-driven front ends).
- Node.js or backend experience supporting custom app development, plus Git and CI/CD workflows.
- 20 days of Paid Time Off.
- US holidays.
