Job summary

The County of Culpeper Animal Shelter is seeking an experienced animal care technician to support intermediate shelter duties, provide medical care, and coordinate the adoption process. You will work under the Animal Shelter Operations Manager and may supervise Animal Care Technicians as needed.

Key tasks include feeding, vaccinating, testing temperament, scheduling vet visits, running on-site and off-site adoption events, cleaning kennels, and assisting the public with shelter operations.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
• Three to five years of experience in an animal shelter, SPCA, or rescue are required.

Responsibilities

• Care for animals in the shelter: feed, bathe, provide water, administer medications, vaccinates and deworms; ensure cages are locked.
• Coordinate and manage the entire animal adoption process, including social media postings and events.
• Test temperament and medical conditions; schedule vaccinations and vet visits; arrange spaying/neutering dates.
• Clean and disinfect animal shelter, floors, cages, kennels, and equipment.
• Answer shelter phone lines and provide information to the public about shelter operations.
