Job summary

ColonialWebb Contractors Company is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic for our construction projects in Richmond, VA. You will fabricate, assemble, install, and repair ductwork, plenums, and related components while adhering to IMC and SMACNA standards.

This role reports to the Foreman or Assistant Superintendent and involves mentoring apprentices on safety and best practices. We offer competitive pay, a 401(k) with company match, PTO, holidays, and comprehensive medical/dental/vision benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of industry experience.
• Knowledge of IMC, SMACNA and general HVAC systems.
• Ability to work with precise accuracy and install from drawings and specs.
• Ability to lead crews to install work safely and efficiently.
• Good math skills (basic arithmetic).
• Excellent communication with teammates across trades.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict adherence to all safety rules and procedures.
• Follow directions from project supervision.
• Select gauge and type of sheet metal according to plans and shop drawings.
• Fabricate duct onsite including miter and alterations.
• Use hand tools and portable power tools for duct installation.
• Lay out openings and coordinate with other trades.
• Inspect assemblies for conformance with requirements and standards.
• Erect and install equipment such as air handling units and VAV boxes.
• Teach and coach apprentices to work safely and productively.
• Handle materials as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
