Job summary

Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging is seeking a Screening Specialist to be the first point of contact for older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and professionals seeking information and assistance. You will answer calls, conduct intake screenings, assess eligibility, and connect callers with COAAA programs and community resources.

This role requires empathy, strong communication, and careful navigation of Medicaid and disability services; you will use multiple computer systems,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of college with a major in social or healthcare sciences, or two years of experience in social services, healthcare, case management, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incoming calls and inquiries from older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and professionals seeking services.
• Conduct telephonic needs assessments to determine potential eligibility for COAAA programs.
• Provide accurate information and referrals to appropriate community resources for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
• Utilize multiple computer programs simultaneously; navigate state ODA and ODM computer systems when applicable.
• Deliver excellent customer service with empathy, patience, and problem-solving; provide crisis intervention when needed.
