Roblox is hiring in San Mateo for a Hardware Engineer to drive bring-up, validation, and optimization of server platforms at scale. The role focuses on hardware lifecycle, platform integration, and performance tuning in a Linux data center environment.

You'll work with BIOS/BMC firmware qualification, hardware health monitoring, and tooling for deployment, while collaborating with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex issues across hardware, firmware, and kernel layers.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of hardware engineering, system architecture, or infrastructure validation experience.
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong understanding of Linux-based server environments, modern data center technologies, and server architecture including PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet/InfiniBand and memory subsystems, and accelerator-based platforms.
• Hands-on experience testing and validating CPU, Memory, Storage, and high-speed networking subsystems in a Linux environment.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for developing hardware validation tools and automation scripts.
• Strong experience debugging complex server issues remotely, including analysis of kernel logs, hardware registers, and bus-level traces/captures.
• Familiarity with GPU platforms, AI accelerators, or HPC systems is a plus.

• Bring-up & Sustaining: Drive hardware development lifecycle steps from feasibility to production support.
• Platform Optimization: Perform integration, performance characterization, and system-level debugging for hardware efficiency.
• Hardware Validation: Develop and execute evaluation and stress-testing for server platforms.
• Firmware & Fleet Enablement: Support BIOS/BMC firmware qualification and tooling for deployment and lifecycle management.
• Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with vendors and internal teams to investigate failures across hardware, drivers, firmware, and kernel layers.
