Job summary

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) at The University of Texas at Austin seeks Manufacturing Operations Technicians I–Senior to operate and maintain semiconductor processing equipment, execute standard and experimental process flows, and support researchers in developing novel semiconductor processes.

Responsibilities include handling wafers across 100–300 mm, following EHS guidelines, and documenting results in lab notebooks and MES systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; basic computer skills preferred.
  • 3+ years hands‑on semiconductor FAB experience for Technician II; 5+ years for Technician III.
  • Experience with at least one 200mm or 300mm tool functional area is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to troubleshoot and document results.

Responsibilities

  • Operate semiconductor fabrication equipment (photolithography, etch, deposition, bonding, diffusion/implant, CMP, electroplating, metrology).
  • Execute process recipes and experimental flows accurately and consistently.
  • Handle wafers (100–300mm) while following cleanroom and EHS standards.
  • Support experimental runs, prototype builds, and funded research programs.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to optimize and troubleshoot processes.
  • Document results and deviations in lab notebooks and MES systems.
