Job summary

CLEAResult seeks a Senior SEM Energy Engineer to lead energy efficiency projects across commercial and industrial sites in California. The role focuses on identifying savings opportunities, performing on-site assessments, and delivering robust M&V calculations.

You will develop methodologies, review BAS/RCx systems, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to advance energy programs. Travel throughout California is required; a PE license is preferred and sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) required.
• 6-8 years of applicable experience in energy efficiency consulting or related field.
• PE license preferred; ME or EIT considered.
• Measurement & verification certification preferred.
• Field experience in energy audits and verification inspections.
• BAS/RCx experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to convey findings to diverse audiences.
• MS Office proficiency; SQL/Power BI a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead site visits to identify energy savings opportunities in commercial/industrial sites and present actionable measures for implementation.
• Calculate and report energy, demand, and GHG savings per California SEM M&V Guide.
• Prepare technical documents and publications; conduct content quality reviews.
• Provide project oversight and QA; keep clients and project team updated.
• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to support energy efficiency programs.
• Apply deep HVAC knowledge to review Building Automation Systems onsite and virtually.
• Develop and rationalize energy savings calculation methodologies; apply IPMVP options for M&V.
• Offer technical/strategic direction to improve energy saving programs and client policies.
• Work with reviewers/evaluators to qualify custom projects and defend savings.
• Maintain client satisfaction and develop new client relationships.

Travel throughout California will be required, and occasional overnight stays may be necessary. With engineers located throughout the state, we strive to assign engineers to work sites within driving distance where possible.

• Lead site visits to discover energy savings opportunities in commercial and/or industrial sites, collect information onsite needed for energy savings calculations, and present actionable and constructible measures for customer implementation.
• Calculate and report out on energy and demand savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions for participant sites, consistent with the California SEM M&V Guide.
• Write and inform technical documents and publications and conduct quality review of content.
• Provide general project oversight and quality control/assurance and continuously inform customers and project team of updates and necessary adjustments.
• Collaborate and work within a multi-disciplinary team to perform and lead technical work supporting energy efficiency programs
• Apply deep knowledge of HVAC systems and controls, including during review of Building Automation Systems both virtually and in-person, to identify opportunities
• Develop and rationalize energy savings calculation methodologies
• Apply knowledge of IPMVP options for measurement and verification
• Provide technical or strategic direction on how to improve energy saving programs, recommend innovative solutions to program and client/utility policies, and champion solutions that will advance the energy efficiency industry
• Work with technical reviewers and evaluators to qualify custom projects and defend program savings
• Effectively resolve challenges faced with clients/contractors/regulators/governing entities to address deficiencies and/or inconsistencies in calculations and/or policy adherence
• Maintain client satisfaction and develop new client relationships

In this exciting career opportunity, you will have…

• BS in Engineering (mechanical or electrical engineering preferred)
• Experience level: 6-8 years of applicable experience in energy efficiency consulting, program implementation, or consulting engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Measurement and verification certification
• Field experience in independently conducting energy audits and verification inspections
• BAS and/or RCx experience
• Excellent technical and non-technical writing and communication abilities; ability to convey findings to diverse technical and non-technical audiences
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with SQL, Power BI, or other data visualization and analysis tools is a plus
• Industry knowledge of Strategic Energy Management preferred

Compensation Range

$115,000.00 -135,000.00

This is a safety-sensitive position and may include field work (such as work in industrial/commercial locations and customer homes), warehouse work, or requires driving on behalf of the company.
