Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Senior Security Specialist - Special Programs shall obtain access to Special Access Program (SAP), Control Access Program (CAP), and/or Alternate Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM) information as required for NGA's sensitive program mission.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, assistance, recommendations, and hands-on support to all Special Programs related activities.
  • Monitor and manage security programs and operations, providing status reports and recommendations for decisions.
  • Assist, collaborate, and coordinate with other SIS offices and divisions.
  • Develop solutions and communicate them to internal and external customers.
  • Provide agency-level technical expertise concerning security disciplines and operational support.
  • Monitor security applications, review metrics, and maintain records.
  • Prepare and disseminate security procedures and guidance.
  • Provide guidance on implementing security requirements.
  • Manage project milestones.
  • Maintain records of security actions.
  • Liaise with DoD, IC, and other officials to stay updated on personnel matters.
  • Interpret security policies related to processing, dissemination, and control of classified materials.
  • Receive, control, and safeguard SCI and collateral information.
  • Act as liaison between NGA and other federal agencies and contractors.
  • Conduct risk surveys and render impact statements or recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings; handle correspondence.
  • Monitor and manage security operations, providing status reports and recommendations.
  • Apply experience to analyze and resolve complex security issues.
  • Provide security guidance to contractors per DoD and IC regulations.
  • Investigate security violations and prepare impact statements.
  • Prepare Program Access Requests (PAR) for SAP, CAP, ACCM, and related programs.
  • Provide technical expertise in security disciplines such as personnel, physical, computer investigations, and operations.
  • Utilize security principles to resolve complex issues.
  • Develop programs/operations to support security tasks.
  • Obtain access to SAP, CAP, and ACCM information as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Required:

  • Experience applying Executive Orders 12333 and 13526, ICD 906 & 705, and DoD Manual 5205.07 standards related to classified national security and SAP information.
  • Successful completion of DoD CDSE SAP 101.10 course.

Desired:

  • Completion of DOD CDSE SECURITY FUNDAMENTALS PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION (SFPC).
  • Experience with security databases/systems: JADE, DISS, SIC, Scattered Castles, ICCARS, PULSE, E2SP.
Minimum/General Experience & Education:
  • High School Diploma.
  • At least five years of experience supporting or conducting sensitive operational or technical activities within DoD or IC.
