Job summary

Akamai is seeking an API Security Sales Specialist to help shape a region, target accounts, and contribute to go-to-market strategy. You will manage full-cycle sales from qualification to close, collaborating with a Sales Engineer to maximize win rates.

The role requires experience in digital cybersecurity, API security, API gateway, and cloud providers, plus proven success in inside technology sales and channel-first motions, with a track record of exceeding targets and selling to enterprise

Become an API Security Sales Specialist

As an API Security Sales Specialist, you will be afforded a flexibility not often seen in sales. You will help shape a region, target accounts and contribute to the go-to-market strategy. In this high profile role, you will be sales professional with an entrepreneurial spirit.

As a Senior Security Sales Specialist, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the full-cycle sales process through qualification, needs analysis, product demonstration, Proof of concept (PoC), negotiation and close.
• Being accountable for your sales target and overachieving on that sales target.
• Building customer relationships and qualifying opportunities such that the sales forecast is accurate.
• Working closely with a Sales Engineer and ensuring their time is used optimally.

Do What You Love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have experience in digital cybersecurity, API Security, API Gateway and Cloud Service Providers.
• Have inside sales/phone selling experience in technology and show evidence of success and progression in role
• Have experience in channel first sales motions.
• Display history of consistently exceeding individual sales goals and targets.
• Have experience with technology sales into commercial and/or enterprise accounts, understanding of how to navigate complex organizations.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - The On Target Earnings (OTE, base salary + commissions) for this position ranges from $245,000 - $441,000/year; a candidate’s OTE is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
