Senior Security Sales Engineer, Public Sector

Your Role:

We are seeking a Presales Senior Security Engineer, Public Sector, to join our team. You will drive sales success and improve customer experience through your technical expertise, working closely with Sales Representatives to differentiate Tenable, build customer relationships, and advocate for our solutions. The focus is primarily on Federal Civilian Agencies and the broader U.S. Public Sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver Technical Excellence: Present product demonstrations that showcase the value and differentiation of Tenable’s platform.
  2. Manage Evaluations: Oversee enterprise software trials and Proof of Value assessments, aligning them with customer objectives.
  3. Address Customer Challenges: Use consultative security and compliance expertise to solve real problems.
  4. Engage and Educate: Respond to technical inquiries and present at local events and conferences.
  5. Support Sales Efforts: Collaborate with sales teams to meet revenue targets, support partners, and respond to RFIs and RFPs.
  6. Build Relationships: Foster strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal teams.

Qualifications:

  1. Technical Skills: Ability to architect solutions assessing vulnerabilities and attack paths across enterprise IT, Cloud, and OT/IOT infrastructure.
  2. Industry Knowledge: Understanding of cybersecurity trends and aligning solutions with business goals.
  3. Cybersecurity Ecosystem: Familiarity with on-premise and cloud security tools like CMDB, EDR, Ticketing, Patch Management, PAM, IDAM, etc.
  4. Cloud Expertise: Knowledge of major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and security principles.
  5. Compliance: Awareness of standards such as NIS2, DORA, PCI, FISMA, SOX, NERC, CIS, DISA STIG.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent presentation skills adaptable to different audiences.
  7. Documentation: Maintain records of activities, issues, solutions, and next steps.
  8. Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills are essential.
  9. Flexibility: Willing to travel up to 25% within your territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience: 3-5 years in a technical or pre-sales role.
  2. Certifications: Cloud certifications (AWS, GCP, Azure), CISSP or equivalent.
  3. Network Knowledge: Understanding TCP/IP and network security concepts.
  4. System Experience: Experience with enterprise OS at the security admin level.
  5. DevOps Skills: Proficiency in Docker, API scripting, Python SDK.
  6. Proactive Attitude: Self-starter who stays current with technology trends.
