Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to shape cybersecurity architecture and engineering strategies across multi-cloud, with a focus on secure-by-default, least-privilege design. You will drive next-generation authorization platforms and AI-enabled security, while guiding cross-functional initiatives and ensuring regulatory alignment.

You will mentor teams, deliver scalable security services, and champion shift-left security practices across Uber's production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, Python, or C/C++ with code reviews.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, tools, and best practices.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, system design, and architecture.
• Leadership in large engineering projects and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement zero-trust frameworks for secure microservice access.
• Provide technical leadership to secure Uber and modernize security stack.
• Lead the Authorization platform design, implementation, testing, and rollout.
• Develop scalable, high-performance platforms for cyber defense.
• Deliver high-quality code and conduct reviews.
• Leverage AI/ML to shift-left security.
• Drive strategic cybersecurity projects and POCs with leadership alignment.
• Prioritize engineering roadmaps with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with business and compliance teams to meet objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and grow security engineering and architecture teams.
