Job summary

Hummingbird is a remote-first, fully distributed team focused on fighting financial crime with AI-powered compliance tools. We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer to own security across our infrastructure, including threat intelligence, incident response, and governance of AI-related security risks.

You'll collaborate with a small, expert team to harden AWS environments managed via Terraform, while balancing product needs with strong security practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience, including 3–5 years in a dedicated security engineering role (Security Engineer, AppSec Engineer, or equivalent).
• Experience in startups is a plus and highly preferred.
• Comfort with Terraform and AWS, and ability to move between network security, encryption, access controls, and high-level architecture.

Responsibilities

• Drive security engineering across the infrastructure and enforce controls.
• Develop threat intelligence programs and monitor external landscape linked to internal risks.
• Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning.
• Shape security posture and influence hosting architecture and decisions.
• Grow into leadership roles as the team scales.
