Job summary

HKS, Inc. is seeking an experienced security operations leader to manage threat monitoring, detection, and incident response. You will drive vulnerability remediation, governance, and security reporting while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating across IT teams.

Responsibilities include building security standards, dashboards, and executive-level reports, plus leading security awareness training and phishing simulations to strengthen organizational defenses. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced Information Security Certification (CISSP, CISM, CASP+, CySA+, CCSP) is required.
• Typically 6+ years of experience with cyber security incident response and remediation activities.
• Advanced knowledge of all layers of the OSI model.
• Strong experience with Microsoft ecosystem (Server/Intune/365/Azure).
• Experience with security tools and platforms (Okta, CrowdStrike, MCAS, Tenable, Mimecast, Cloudflare).
• Knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto, Prisma/SASE environments.

Responsibilities

• Engineers, implements, and advocates for effective security operation standards and controls across monitoring, threat detection, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, access management, compliance and reporting.
• Develops and implements a comprehensive vulnerability management program and analyzes emerging threats.
• Leads remediation efforts to improve security posture.
• Leads incident response investigations and develops incident reports.
• Mentors junior team members in incident handling techniques.
• Develops and maintains security documentation, policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
• Develops a security reporting framework aligned with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• Leads creation of executive-level security reports for senior management.
• Oversees security dashboards and KPIs to ensure timely, relevant reporting.
• Develops a comprehensive security awareness program and training content, including phishing simulations.
