Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our Enterprise Application Security team and embed security throughout the software development lifecycle. This role focuses on shift-left security, enabling developers, and reducing vulnerabilities before production.

You will design guardrails, enforce pipeline security gates, and work with engineering teams to embed robust security controls across AI-assisted development, CI/CD, and tooling in a large health organization.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security guardrails to catch vulnerabilities early in the SDLC
• Configure pipelines and gates to prevent non-compliant code from production
• Deploy and manage security scanners (SAST, DAST, SCA, container, secret detection) across the enterprise
• Develop security-as-code policies that scale for a large distributed org
• Partner with delivery teams to define secure AI development practices and governance
