Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking an experienced Security Engineer in California to join our security team.

You will lead design, implementation, and scaling of security controls across backend infrastructure, cloud environments, and corporate systems while upholding rigorous security standards. You will partner with engineering, product, and operations to embed secure practices throughout the development lifecycle, conduct threat modeling, and strengthen incident response capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s security related experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years; or PhD with 2+ years.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and scaling of security controls across domains including backend infrastructure, cloud environments, corporate systems, and abuse detection platforms.
• Architect and deploy security solutions to protect against threats such as intrusion attempts, advanced threat actors, abuse, spam, account takeover, and infrastructure attacks.
• Utilize AI tools and high-velocity workflows to design and ship scalable services with strict code security and production-quality requirements.
• Drive cross-functional security initiatives with engineering, product, and operations to embed secure practices across the lifecycle.
• Conduct security reviews and threat modeling, identify risks, remediate vulnerabilities, and ensure robust security posture.
• Build and operate protective tooling and AI-enhanced automation for detection, incident response, and operational security.
• Mentor and elevate peers by setting technical direction and promoting best practices in security.
