About The Role
In this role, the Senior Security Coordinator will assist the principal Senior Security Coordinator in the issuance of Airport Security ID (SIDA) badges. This critical security position must ensure that JFK Credentialing Office’s badging process complies with all TSA and Port Authority security regulations and policies, as well as ensuring the office meets the agency’s Customer Experience standards. This position may require rotating shifts and on-call evenings and weekends. It is a position of high trust and is responsible for confidential and sensitive security information. TSA security clearance is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operation of the Security Credentialing Office and supervise the performance of contract and PA clerical staff.
- Develop and enforce security protocols to ensure compliance with TSA Regulations, Port Authority Audit requirements, Air Terminal Rules, and Office of the Chief Security Office’s procedures. Respond to audits and implement corrective actions.
- Review FBI Criminal History Records Checks (CHRC) and TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA) results for each applicant. Determine eligibility and approve/deny access requests to secured areas of the airport.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with TSA, Customs and Border Patrol, PAPD, other federal agencies, and the airport community for efficient security operations.
- Assist in reviewing, maintaining, and developing Security Credentialing reports, metrics, and SOPs.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with various programs and security directives.
- Manage or assist in implementing new security systems and projects.
- Generate and distribute security information per PA’s Information Security Handbook.
- Assist in strategic planning for the Airport Security Program and provide feedback on airport initiatives.
- Monitor credential application statuses, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure excellent customer service.
- Maintain proper documentation for applications and dispositions as per regulatory requirements.
- Meet with airlines, tenants, and contractors to review credentialing procedures and policies.
- Administer and update the airport security credentialing website.
- Assist in airport emergency operations, including snow response.
- Participate in security industry working groups and lead security meetings as needed.
- Perform trusted administrator functions within security systems and manage related account changes.
- Manage and track payments for lost or non-returned ID cards.
- Coordinate security committees and develop informational and promotional materials.
- Assist law enforcement agencies in security investigations.
- Review and approve/deny daily stop list and escort letters.
- Coordinate with other PA airports to ensure compliance and consistency in credentialing policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Security, Public Administration, Business Administration, Aviation Management, or related field, plus relevant experience in airport operations or security, and at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Alternatively, at least three years of relevant airport operations or security experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must obtain TSA security clearance after employment.
- Must complete a Port Authority Police Background Check.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of TSA Security Regulations (49 CFR 1540, 1542, 1544).
- Familiarity with Air Terminal Rules, Port Authority Security ID Program, and related SOPs.
- Ability to learn PA policies on contract administration, budgeting, staffing, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, identify problems, develop solutions, multi-task, and provide excellent customer service.
- Strong communication, analytical skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with computerized systems and PA SAP billing system.
