Job summary

Markon seeks an Expert Network Engineer to support an Intelligence Community client in Herndon, VA. The role designs, deploys, and supports secure enterprise and field communications encompassing voice, video, data, LAN/WAN, RF, and other network technologies.

The engineer translates requirements into network designs, oversees installations, integrates INFOSEC/COMSEC, and provides Tier III/IV support to ensure mission readiness. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph to be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 9+ years of relevant experience in network engineering and related knowledge areas.
• Knowledge of Cisco routing and switching and network architecture planning.
• Understanding of VPNs including IPsec and SSL.
• Understanding of RF transport mediums and wired data transport.

Responsibilities

• Provide network engineering and communications modeling subject matter expertise in support of U.S. Government missions.
• Translate business requirements into telecommunications requirements, designs, and orders for LAN, MAN, WAN, voice, and video capabilities.
• Develop complex network designs across enterprise environments.
• Incorporate INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements into network architectures.
• Design and optimize network topologies and site configurations.
• Plan installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities.
• Organize and direct network installations and site surveys.
• Assess and document existing site network configurations and user requirements.
• Evaluate emerging network technologies and provide recommendations.
• Develop network designs and configurations that account for performance and interoperability.
• Provide engineering support for development and deployment of communications systems.
• Research existing technologies and apply COTS/GOTS solutions for secure voice/data networks.
• Integrate communications system designs with network architectures to meet requirements.
• Provide post-design support including installation, configuration, and Tier III/IV maintenance.
