Motion Recruitment is seeking a full-time Software Development Engineer in Test in downtown Chicago to advance trading, market data, analytics, and risk management platforms using Python, C#, Playwright, Selenium, and SQL.

The role combines software engineering, quality assurance, and machine learning elements within a collaborative environment, offering growth in automated testing, AI-driven applications, and derivatives workflows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of QA Engineering, SDET, or Automation Engineering experience.
• Python automation experience.
• Experience with Playwright, Selenium, or comparable automation frameworks.
• Strong SQL scripting and database validation skills.
• Knowledge of FIX Protocol messaging.
• Experience within trading, financial services, capital markets, exchanges, or fintech.
• Understanding of options, derivatives, futures, or trading workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automated test frameworks.
• Execute manual and exploratory testing activities.
• Validate trading workflows, market data integrations, and platform functionality.
• Test APIs, databases, and distributed applications.
• Support AI/ML testing initiatives and model validation efforts.
• Investigate production issues and create regression coverage.
• Collaborate with software engineers, traders, and quantitative teams.
