Job summary

Apple, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in San Diego to own test automation across iOS and macOS features.

You will build production-grade Python and Swift test frameworks, automate UI tests, and drive quality gates within CI/CD pipelines. You will work with engineers and product managers to compress release cycles, reduce defects, and push automation to new levels with GenAI-assisted tooling and advanced coverage strategies.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in SDET, QA automation, or testing-focused software engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and Swift for building test frameworks.
• Experience embedding quality gates across the full SDLC.
• Proven multi-layered test strategies spanning functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Direct experience with UI automation on Apple platforms (XCUITest/XUI).
• Ability to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Applied GenAI tooling to test generation, failure analysis, or coverage gaps.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, SE, or equivalent depth demonstrated by work.

Responsibilities

• Build production-grade automated test suites in Python and Swift that validate iOS and macOS features at scale.
• Own the UI automation infrastructure end-to-end and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive test strategy for feature areas, defining coverage models and quality gates.
• Close coverage gaps via root cause analysis and systemic automation improvements.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging tooling, including GenAI-assisted test generation and prompts.
• Perform manual functional testing when needed to validate new features and complex workflows.
